Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You have a new diagnosis of stage II–IV distal stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, or colorectal cancer
- You are currently receiving treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy before surgery, chemotherapy/ radiation before surgery, or palliative chemotherapy/immunotherapy
- You do NOT have a second, different cancer at the same time in another body site
- You can safely get an ultrasound-guided needle placed near veins in the liver/upper abdomen (the tumor/lymph node location must allow a clear puncture spot)
- Your blood clotting and platelets are safe for the procedure (not strongly abnormal), and you do not have serious liver bleeding risks like cirrhosis, portal hypertension, or gastric varices
