DefiPace to help prevent heart rhythm problems after heart surgery

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and having planned open-chest heart surgery (bypass and/or valve surgery)
  • If you’re having only bypass surgery, you must be at least 70; if you’re having valve surgery, at least 60
  • Your doctor must be able to get your written consent before the operation
  • You must be scheduled for the specific DefiPace-related step during the surgery (called TMA implantation) if the study phase applies to you
  • You should not have a history of atrial fibrillation (lasting or coming and going)
  • You must not have certain heart device implants or have had recent stroke (within 3 months), endocarditis, or be pregnant at the time of surgery
