- Be between 40 and under 85 years old
- Have had a shoulder MRI showing a rotator cuff tear (partial or full thickness) OR no tear
- Be able to sign consent and agree to take part
- Be able to complete study questionnaires in English
- (To qualify) the tear should not be from a very recent severe injury/trauma
