Who can take part
- You have rectal adenocarcinoma (a specific type of rectal cancer).
- Your overall health is good enough (WHO performance status 0–1) to receive CAPOX chemotherapy (capecitabine plus oxaliplatin).
- Your MRI shows tumor spread outside the rectal wall into blood vessels (mrEMVI+).
- Your tumor situation is judged by a cancer team to need either radiotherapy alone or long chemoradiotherapy by standard care.
- You do NOT have a mismatch repair problem (no deficient MMR).
- You do NOT have a harmful DPYD genetic change that can make chemotherapy unsafe (DPYD genotype okay).
