- Rectal cancer confirmed from a biopsy as adenocarcinoma, diagnosed within 90 days

- Tumor stage is T3–4 with node involvement (N0, N1, or N2 as specified) and no distant spread
- You can have the planned chemo and radiation timeline and have ECOG 0–2 (not very limited day-to-day)
- Blood counts, liver, and kidney tests are at safe levels for chemotherapy (with specific minimums)
- You must be able to sign consent, and if you can become pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test and use birth control during treatment and 3 months after
