Who can take part

  • You have a known or suspected tumor that reacts to somatostatin, such as some neuroendocrine tumors, pheochromocytoma, paraganglioma, or medullary thyroid cancer
  • You can have a CT or MRI done within 6 months before joining the study
  • You (or a legal decision-maker) can sign a consent form and agree to take part
  • You can safely fit on the PET/CT scanner (weight must be 225 kg or less)
  • You can complete the scan by lying still, and severe claustrophobia would prevent participation
  • You should not have had an allergic reaction to DOTATATE or similar “somatostatin” medicines, and you need working vein access for an IV

The goal is to see if it works as well as or better than the standard scan. If you have a NET and need a scan for staging or treatment planning, you might be able to join.

This pilot study tests a total-body PET scan with approved tracer medicines to help detect cancer spread in people with suspected metastatic prostate cancer or certain neuroendocrine tumors (NETs).
