Who can take part
- You must be 18–60 years old and weigh between 50 and 95 kg.
- Chagas must be confirmed by blood tests (at least two positive antibody tests) and a blood PCR test with at least one positive result.
- You should not be pregnant and should not be breastfeeding; you must use very reliable birth control during treatment and for 30 days after your last dose (or be permanently sterilized).
- You must be able to come to study visits and follow study instructions, including taking pills by mouth.
- Your heart tests must be in an allowed range, or you may have only mild heart changes related to Chagas (not moderate-to-severe heart or digestive disease).
- You must not have had prior antiparasitic treatment for Chagas, and you must not have a history of serious allergy or bad reactions to benznidazole or similar medicines (like metronidazole).
