Who can take part

  • You are an adult (older than 18).
  • You are scheduled to have ureteroscopy with laser stone breaking.
  • Your kidney stone(s) are not blocking urine and total size is 2 cm or smaller.
  • You are not pregnant.
  • You do not have a kidney drainage tube (nephrostomy) in place.
  • Your kidney shape is normal (no major kidney anatomy problems), and your swelling (hydronephrosis) isn’t so severe that it would make stone removal hard.
