Who can take part

  • You must be in one of two groups: AHI over 30 per hour, or AHI under 5 per hour
  • If you are in the low-AHI group, your Epworth sleepiness score must be under 10
  • Your Epworth sleepiness score must be 18 or lower
  • Your body mass index (BMI) must be 40 or higher
  • You should not have major heart or circulation problems (including uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, or heart disease)
  • You should not already use CPAP, and you must not have joined another trial in the past 30 days
