Who can take part

  • You have a diagnosis of mild asthma and it’s been documented in the past.
  • Your asthma has been stable for at least 1 month using only low-dose inhaled steroid (with or without as-needed rescue reliever).
  • Your breathing test is good: your FEV1 is at least 80% of the expected value after you stop rescue inhaler for at least 8 hours.
  • You must be responsive to a bronchial challenge test (methacholine PC20 at or below 8 mg/mL before albuterol).
  • You haven’t had a breathing infection in the last 6 weeks and you’re otherwise generally healthy (no other lung diseases).
  • You can use an inhaler correctly, will follow birth-control rules if needed, and will not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
