Who can take part
- You must be seen in the Emergency Department (or a training site) where emergency medicine staff are working.
- You must have legs that are uncovered and can be examined for a vein (no blocking dressings or wounds).
- You should not have a serious, life-threatening condition that the emergency doctor says is “critical.”
- You cannot have a skin infection or soft-tissue infection/injury over the area being examined.
- If you’re in custody (a prison inmate) or cannot verbally consent/agree to the study, you generally cannot participate.
