- You are a veteran.
- You have one amputated arm, either above or below the elbow, that is fully healed.
- You have working nerves and muscles in the remaining part of the amputated arm.
- You are healthy enough to have surgery with general anesthesia.

- You are willing to follow the study plan and possibly have a psychological evaluation.
