Who can take part

  • You must have lost one leg above the knee at least 6 months ago.
  • You must be able to walk with a prosthetic leg and have good mobility (score of at least 37 on a walking test).
  • You should not have severe chronic pain from the amputation (like complex regional pain syndrome).
  • You must be healthy enough for surgery (no recent heart attacks, uncontrolled diabetes, or other major health issues).
  • You cannot use any tobacco products for at least 1 month before the study and for the whole study period.
