Who can take part
- Be under 16 years old
- Be older than 3 months (for babies born on time and for some preterm babies)
- Have a documented severe infection that led to ICU care for more than 24 hours
- The infection must be one of the serious types listed (for example: sepsis, septic shock, meninges/brain involvement, encephalitis, or an opportunistic infection)
- Get care at one of these hospitals: Montpellier, Toulouse, or Marseille, for the infection being studied
- Have a parent or legal guardian who can consent; the child is covered by the social security system
