Who can take part
- You are 18 or older
- You have been in the intensive care unit (ICU) for more than 48 hours
- You have either a normal immune system or a weakened one (from cancer, transplant, HIV, long-term steroids, or other immune conditions)
- You are on a breathing machine or getting medicines to support your blood pressure
- You had a routine swab test for resistant bacteria within the first 2 days of ICU stay
- You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or under legal guardianship, and you agree to take part
