Measuring how radiation affects vaginal narrowing in cervical cancer

This study measures how radiation therapy changes the vagina’s flexibility and shape in people with newly diagnosed, advanced cervical cancer that has spread to nearby lymph nodes. Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and have newly diagnosed, advanced cervical cancer confirmed by biopsy
  • Your cancer has lymph node spread in the pelvis or para-aortic area, located below the T12/L1 level
  • You have not had any prior radiation to the pelvis or abdominal/para-aortic area, and no prior cancer treatment for this cancer within the last 3 years
  • Blood tests must be strong enough: enough white cells, neutrophils, platelets, and hemoglobin (transfusions before the study are allowed)
  • Your kidney, liver, and blood clotting tests must be within allowed limits (or stable if you’re on certain blood thinners)
  • If you have HIV, it must be well controlled with stable anti-HIV therapy, a high enough CD4 count, and an undetectable viral load
