Who can take part
- You’re admitted to the hospital for suspected acute myocarditis (acute heart inflammation).
- You’re age 18 to 69, and symptoms started within the last 3 weeks.
- Blood tests suggest heart strain and injury (high NT-proBNP or BNP, plus troponin that’s at least 3 times the normal upper limit).
- Your echocardiogram shows reduced heart pumping (LVEF under 41%) and certain heart size measurements (LV-EDD under 56 mm).
- You’re randomized within 120 hours (5 days) of being admitted, and coronary artery disease has been ruled out if you’re 46 or older.
