Abatacept for immune-therapy heart inflammation in hospitalized adults

Who can take part

  • You are age 18 or older and can give informed consent (or your legal representative can).
  • You were diagnosed with myocarditis, and you’re in the hospital at the time of randomization.
  • You recently started an FDA-approved immune cancer medicine that can trigger myocarditis (within 6 months of diagnosis).
  • Your myocarditis is being treated with high-dose steroid (solumedrol 1000 mg per day), or you will start it right away (within 24 hours of the first study medicine dose).
  • Your blood tests show active heart injury (troponin at least 5 times the lab’s upper normal limit within the last 10 days).
  • Recent bloodwork is acceptable and you can follow study rules, including pregnancy/contraception requirements if applicable.
