Study of inherited heart conditions in children

Inherited Cardiac ConditionsCardiovascular Diseases

Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.

This trial studies children with inherited (genetic) heart conditions that started before age 16. It may help improve how doctors identify the genetic cause and understand which families are affected.

  • Your child has a confirmed inherited heart condition that began before age 16
  • The heart condition is considered rare and likely caused by a single gene
  • A parent or guardian is able to understand the study and give consent
  • Genetic testing on a local heart-gene panel did not find a clear “ICC” gene result yet (genotype negative)
  • You are a family member of someone with this inherited cardiac condition (affected or not)

PKP2 heart condition natural history study

This study is for people with a specific genetic heart condition (PKP2-related arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy) who already have an ICD. It does not test a new treatment but instead follows participants over time to learn more about the condition.

NCT04257994Recruiting
Study how heart cell connections differ in inherited rhythm problems

This study looks at how proteins that connect heart cells are distributed in people with inherited heart rhythm disorders (and some family members who may carry the gene). It aims to better understand the biology behind these conditions, which may help improve risk assessment and future care.

Exercise testing in kids with inherited heart rhythm conditions

This study looks at how children with certain genetic heart rhythm problems, like long QT syndrome, respond to exercise. It may help doctors understand how to better manage these conditions.

Study of cardiomyopathy in children

This trial studies children with cardiomyopathy to better understand the condition. It's for children who have been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and who do not have other major heart problems or serious issues with other organs.

Study of children’s heart disease caused by MYBPC3 gene changes

This is an observational study that follows children under 18 with cardiomyopathy caused by certain MYBPC3 gene mutations. It aims to better understand how the disease changes over time, which may help future treatments be better targeted.

Study unusual heart conditions and related genetic traits

This study looks at people with unusual or rare heart problems, or people with a family history of these issues. Doctors and researchers may collect and study your blood or tissue (and possibly store samples) to learn what causes the condition and how it may affect the heart.
