Strength exercise study for post-menopausal type 1 diabetes

Who can take part

  • You are a woman and are post-menopausal (at least 12 months since your last period).
  • You have type 1 diabetes and it has been diagnosed for at least 1 year.
  • Your diabetes control is not too high: your HbA1c must be below 10% (average blood sugar).
  • You can safely do strength exercises and are willing to attend lab sessions near the University of Alberta in Edmonton (or can travel there).
  • You should not have uncontrolled low blood sugar episodes that are frequent or unpredictable, and you should not have major exercise-limiting injuries.
