Home hospital care for adults with advanced liver disease

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have cirrhosis (scarring of the liver) confirmed by scan, tissue test, and/or liver stiffness test
  • You recently came to the emergency department or general hospital medicine floor
  • You have advanced liver disease symptoms needing treatment, such as fluid in the belly, fluid around the lungs, or confusion from liver disease
  • You are not in any major “do not enroll” group (for example: liver transplant history, on dialysis, or very high liver severity)
