- You are 18 years or older
- You have had sensory symptoms (like numbness, tingling, or burning) or motor symptoms (like weakness) that have been slowly getting worse for more than 2 months
- You do not have conditions like diabetes, chronic kidney or liver disease, thyroid disease, or vitamin B12 deficiency
- No family history of nerve problems or genetic nerve disorders
- No infectious causes like hepatitis, HIV, or leprosy
- No nerve damage caused by toxins or medications (like chemotherapy or certain antibiotics)
