Brain stimulation plus training to help reduce impulsive eating and weight

This study tests whether a brain stimulation method (tDCS) combined with cognitive training can reduce impulsivity around food and improve weight in Veterans with obesity. You would join a MOVE! weight program and complete study procedures to see whether this approach helps.

Who can take part

  • You must be a Veteran enrolled in the VA MOVE! weight management program at the Minneapolis VA.
  • You need obesity based on height/weight (BMI over 30, or BMI over 27 with another weight-related health issue).
  • You must be an adult (18+) and able to read/understand English and sign consent.
  • If you can become pregnant, you must agree to use reliable birth control during the study.
  • You must NOT have a history of seizures, serious head injury, or brain/head surgery, and you must not have frequent severe headaches.
