Who can take part
- You are age 40 or older
- You used to smoke, and you have at least a 10 pack-year smoking history
- Your lung test shows airflow limitation (FEV1/FVC is below 0.7 after using an inhaler)
- You do NOT have a past heart attack, stent procedure, or stroke
- You are not taking blood thinners or antiplatelet medicines (other than aspirin 81 mg)
- You can safely take aspirin (no major bleeding history or aspirin allergy, and no recent major surgery)
