iFuse implant plus SI joint fusion for low back pain

This study looks at a specific implant technique (iFuse Bedrock with iFuse-3D) during surgery to fuse the sacroiliac (SI) joint area and stabilize the low back/pelvis. It may help people with degenerative SI joint disease who have pain triggered by SI joint tests before surgery.

Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for open low back fusion that includes L4, L5, and S1, plus an SI joint fusion and iliac/pelvic fixation
  • Your planned surgery will place at least one iFuse-3D implant using the Bedrock technique (as instructed by the manufacturer)
  • Before surgery, your SI joint pain tests were positive (with or without an injection test)
  • You have degenerative SI joint disease and your care team is recommending fusion
  • Your bone density is not severely low (DEXA T-score must be 3 or less, since more than 3 is excluded)
