Who can take part
- You are admitted for childbirth (vaginal or C-section) at 24 weeks of pregnancy or later
- You have high blood pressure during the study—top number 140+ or bottom number 90+ on two checks at least 4 hours apart
- Your care team will choose how to increase treatment to reach normal blood pressure
- You do not have moderate persistent asthma, coronary artery disease, heart failure, AV heart block, or pulmonary swelling in the lungs
- You do not have a reason you cannot safely take labetalol or nifedipine
- Your heart rate is between 60 and 110 beats per minute
