Rehab after neck nerve surgery for persistent arm pain
Part of Brain & nervous system clinical trials.
This trial studies recovery and function after surgery to relieve a pinched nerve in the neck (posterior cervical decompression). It may help people with ongoing arm pain learn which rehab approach improves daily function.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with a pinched neck nerve (cervical radiculopathy) based on MRI or another scan if MRI can’t be done
- A specialist confirmed the nerve problem matches your exam findings
- You have had posterior neck decompression surgery (foraminotomy, with or without laminectomy)
- Your arm pain has lasted at least 3 months
- You are between 18 and 75 years old

This trial studies whether an operation to remove and decompress damaged neck discs (and fuse the area) helps people with painful nerve problems in the neck/arm. It’s meant for cases where non-surgery treatments haven’t worked and imaging shows the problem matches your symptoms.
This trial tests whether adding nerve mobilization exercises to cervical traction improves nerve root function in people with cervical radiculopathy (a pinched nerve in the neck causing arm symptoms). It may help if you have had neck-related arm pain or numbness for more than 3 months.
This trial tests a specific neck movement retraining program to improve joint awareness and daily function in people with chronic cervical radiculopathy (nerve irritation in the neck). It may help if you have had neck pain that goes into your arm for at least 3 months.
This study tests whether core stabilization exercises (exercises to strengthen your trunk and back) can help reduce pain and improve function in people with cervical radiculopathy (a pinched nerve in the neck that causes arm pain and numbness). If you're between 35 and 50, have had neck pain for over six weeks, and your symptoms fit, you may be eligible.
This trial tests whether adding a home exercise program to a steroid injection in the neck helps people with long-term nerve pain in the arm. It aims to improve pain and function for those who haven't gotten enough relief from other treatments.
This study tests if combining laser guidance with neck exercises helps people with cervical radiculopathy (nerve pain in the neck that travels to the arm) improve their neck control and reduce pain. It may be a good fit if you have moderate neck-related arm pain.
