Who can take part
- Be between 14 and 21 years old, and past puberty (Tanner stage above 3)
- Have depression as your main mental health diagnosis (not another primary diagnosis)
- Be able to agree and follow study tasks, and have a caregiver consent if needed
- Be under a clinician’s care who will treat you with fluoxetine or escitalopram
- Not take medicines that could interfere—especially antidepressants, mood stabilizers, hormone supplements, or steroids—for the required washout time
