Who can take part

  • Be a NICU baby born between 24 and 31 weeks of pregnancy
  • Have a parent/guardian consent available by 72 hours after birth
  • Your baby should not have serious birth defects that affect the brain, heart, or chromosomes
  • Your baby should not have signs of already having very high iron stores
  • You should not be enrolling during a serious infection like sepsis, meningitis, or a significant urine infection
