  • You are scheduled to have thyroid surgery (thyroidectomy) for a goiter
  • You have not had previous surgery in the neck area
  • You have not had radiation therapy to your neck
  • You can understand the study language well enough to follow instructions
  • You do not have a known chest or breathing condition that already narrows the upper airways
