Tonsil Surgery for Adults With Sleep Apnea

Who can take part

  • You have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) diagnosed by a sleep study showing at least 15 breathing pauses per hour
  • Your tonsils are enlarged (size 2–4 on a standard scale)
  • Your BMI (body mass index) is below 35
  • You are otherwise healthy and your doctor says you can safely have tonsil surgery
  • You do not take blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder
  • You have not had prior surgery to treat sleep apnea
