Who can take part
- Be an adult age 18 or older
- Be in the ICU and need a breathing tube (intubation) for sudden, serious breathing trouble
- Your ICU team plans to “preoxygenate” using noninvasive ventilation (not high-flow nasal oxygen)
- EtO2 (end-tidal oxygen) monitoring equipment must be available for you
- Special study oxygen-saturation monitoring equipment must be available
- You must not need intubation for cardiac arrest
