Who can take part

  • You have a skull opening (defect) larger than 3 centimeters
  • You do not currently have bleeding in the brain, or ongoing pressure problems or fluid buildup in the brain
  • Any previous pressure/fluid issues must have happened more than 1 month ago and be treated
  • Your surgeon says you are a candidate for skull repair (they think it can be done safely)
  • Your skin wound is healing well enough, with no active infection
  • A clinician agrees you are medically stable for surgery planning and you/your family can consent
