Testing two spinal stimulation patterns for long-term back pain

Persistent Spinal Pain Syndrome Type 2Failed Back Surgery Syndrome

This study compares two ways of delivering spinal cord stimulation to see which better reduces pain in people with persistent spinal pain syndrome type 2. You would be assigned to one of the stimulation “burst” patterns and followed for changes in your pain experience.

Who can take part

  • You’re between 18 and 70 years old
  • Your long-lasting back and/or leg pain has been present for at least 6 months
  • Your current pain is at least 5 out of 10 on a pain scale
  • Your neurologic exam shows no major weakness (marked motor deficit)
  • You must be able and willing to attend follow-up visits and follow study instructions
  • You must be cleared by a team (including a psychologist) as suitable for a spinal stimulation implant
