Who can take part

  • You are transported after an injury to a participating trauma center
  • You show signs of stress from injury (shock index 0.9 or higher, or heart rate 115 or higher)
  • You need pain treatment right away based on pain scores (pain is at least moderate)
  • You have IV access so medicine can be given through a vein
  • You can’t be a child under 18, and you must meet the study’s age/sex limits
