Who can take part

  • Be at least 14 years old
  • If you have spinal cord injury (SCI), you must have an SCI diagnosis; otherwise you must be a healthy person matched by age and gender
  • Have clear records of your injury (neurological exam and/or MRI showing the injury level; CT or X-rays may be added)
  • Be able to sign and understand the informed consent form
  • You should not have other serious neurologic conditions (like brain injury, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Parkinson’s, or hard-to-control seizures)
  • Avoid interfering factors: no recent other intervention study in the last 3 months; no serious heart or lung problems; vision/hearing issues that stop you from following instructions; no illegal drug use or chronic heavy alcohol use
