This trial tests whether vedolizumab helps people with moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis and what changes happen in the gut microbiome (the community of helpful bacteria in your intestines). You may be able to join if you’re an adult with ulcerative colitis who has not used vedolizumab before and haven’t taken certain gut-affecting medicines recently.

  • You’re 18 years old or older and have moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis
  • You have a doctor’s recommendation to start vedolizumab
  • You have never taken vedolizumab before
  • You have not used biologic medicines before, or you stopped them more than 12 weeks ago
  • You have not taken antibiotics or probiotics in the last 4 weeks
  • You can fully take part in the study on your own and agree to sign consent
