PET/CT scan using a special tracer for heart inflammation
Part of Heart & circulation, Immune system & allergy clinical trials.
This Phase 2 study tests whether a PET/CT scan using a radioactive tracer can help evaluate acute heart inflammation. It may help doctors better identify inflammation and guide follow-up, especially in people suspected of specific heart inflammation conditions or recently after heart transplant follow-up.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- Be 18 years or older and able to sign informed consent
- Be followed by the cardiology clinic at CHUV as part of standard care
- Have the study’s specific reason for being enrolled (suspected CS, ICIM, or follow-up within 1 year after heart transplant)
- Not be pregnant or breastfeeding, and avoid pregnancy during the study if you are in the CS/ICIM groups
- Be able to safely complete scan procedures (including not having severe claustrophobia)
- Have kidneys that work well enough for the planned imaging (and have no “right not to know” refusal about incidental findings)

This study tests if a special PET scan with 64Cu-DOTATATE can detect inflammation in the heart caused by sarcoidosis. It may help diagnose heart sarcoidosis more accurately in people with symptoms or known disease.
This study looks at how a PET/CT scan (called gallium-68 DOTATOC) can also check your heart health while scanning for a neuroendocrine tumor. It aims to see if the routine scan can give extra information about your heart function without any extra visits or radiation.
This study uses a special PET scan (68Ga-FAPI) to look at inflammation in the heart. It may help researchers understand heart failure and cardiac sarcoidosis better.
This study tests a new PET scan tracer, 64Cu-GRIP B, to see if it can better detect inflammation in the heart muscle (myocarditis). If you have been diagnosed with myocarditis and meet other health criteria, this scan might help guide your treatment.
This trial tests if a special PET scan can help doctors better diagnose and follow infections in people with implanted heart devices like valves, pacemakers, or grafts.
This trial is testing a new imaging method (68Ga-FAPI PET/CMR) to better see and understand heart problems. It might help doctors diagnose or monitor conditions like heart failure or inflammation.
