This study tests if a child life specialist can help reduce anxiety when children have pins removed from their arm after a fracture. If your child is between 3 and 10, had a specific arm fracture treated with pins at Boston Children's Hospital, and speaks English, they may be eligible.

  • Aged 3 to 10 years old at the time of arm surgery
  • Had a type of arm fracture (supracondylar humerus) that was treated with pins at Boston Children's Hospital
  • Pin removal appointment scheduled at Boston or Waltham orthopedic clinic with a study doctor
  • Speaks English
  • No history of seizures or other neurological disorders
  • Willing to come to Boston or Waltham for follow-up
