This early study tests whether naltrexone (a prescription medicine) changes brain activity measured by MRI in teens and young adults with binge eating and/or purging. It may help researchers understand how the brain works in these eating disorders and whether this treatment could be helpful.

Who can take part

  • You must be between 13 and 21 years old
  • You have an eating disorder diagnosis that involves binge eating and and/or purging
  • Your medication plan must be stable—no dose or medicine changes in the last 4 weeks
  • If you’re under 18, you and your parent/guardian must be willing to agree and complete study steps
  • You must be able to safely get an MRI (no MRI-incompatible metal in your body)
  • You must not be pregnant and must be able to do the pregnancy test
