Who can take part

  • You already took part in the earlier Renal HEIR study
  • You are in the obese-youth group (with or without type 2 diabetes) or a lean control group
  • You can have a PET scan and are age 18 or older
  • You do not have anemia (low blood counts)
  • You are not pregnant and can avoid pregnancy during the study
  • You do not have certain allergies or medication issues (seafood/iodine/penicillin; specific drugs like sulfonamides or probenecid)
