Who can take part

  • You’re between 35 and 80 years old and can give informed consent.
  • You’ve had Parkinson’s disease for at least 2 years and are on stable Parkinson’s medicines for 90 days or more.
  • Your Parkinson’s symptoms are mild to moderate (Hoehn and Yahr Stage 1–3) while you’re taking Parkinson’s medication.
  • Your brain scan shows a dopamine deficit (a DAT SPECT scan result must be positive).
  • If you join the GBA study group, you must have at least one GBA gene mutation; if not, you must have two normal (wild-type) GBA copies.
  • You must be able to safely have MRI and ultrasound with contrast, and you should not have certain heart, kidney, infection, stroke/TIA, or prior brain surgery issues.
