Medication effects on early-onset colon cancer

This study looks at how a medication (and related gut changes) may affect people with young-onset colorectal cancer, and it compares them to similar people without cancer. If you can provide required stool and/or tissue samples, your team may test whether the medication group shows different gut and tumor-related findings.

Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 49 years old.
- You fit one of these groups: colorectal cancer with planned/ongoing colon surgery/biopsy, or a control group having a standard colonoscopy at MSK after a colon injury surgery.
- If you’re in the cancer group, you have colorectal adenocarcinoma confirmed by pathology, and you can provide tissue (including non-cancer colon lining away from the tumor).
- If you will provide stool for gut testing, you have not used antibiotics in the last 6 months.
- You do not have an inherited cancer gene that you already know about and you do not have inflammatory bowel disease (for the cancer group).
