Shingles vaccine study for adults with well-controlled HIV

Who can take part

  • Be able to sign consent and follow study instructions
  • If you can become pregnant, use at least one reliable birth control method from screening through month 3
  • Have a primary care provider
  • If you have HIV: be 18+ with confirmed HIV-1, and have well-controlled viral levels on stable HIV treatment (or be an “elite controller” with long-term undetectable levels)
  • If you are in the healthy comparison group: be 50+ and not have any immune problems (including a negative HIV test at screening)
