Who can take part

  • You have a fracture in specific areas (pelvis/acetabulum, distal femur, or distal tibia—including some that affect the joint surface).
  • Your surgery for the fracture happens within 7 days after the injury at the study hospital locations.
  • You can understand the study well enough and give informed consent.
  • You are able to follow the study’s walking/weight-bearing plan right away or as assigned.
  • You agree to be randomly assigned to either earlier or delayed weight-bearing.
  • You are not living in a way that makes follow-up unlikely (for example, homelessness is a concern), and your care team is expected to be at the participating site.
