Testing safer walking weight on a surgically treated heel fracture
Part of Injuries & trauma clinical trials.
This trial studies whether “permissive weight bearing” (walking with allowed weight) is safe and helpful after surgery for a displaced heel bone fracture. It’s meant to improve recovery while protecting the healing bone.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You had surgery for a displaced heel fracture on one side (not both feet) within 6 weeks of the injury
- Your heel fracture is classified as Sanders type II to IV
- You are age 18 to 67

This trial tests whether fusing the joint just below the ankle (subtalar joint) during heel bone fracture repair helps people with severe fractures heal better. You may qualify if you have a specific type of broken heel bone and can return for follow-up visits for one year.
This study compares starting to put weight on your injured leg sooner versus waiting before walking. It aims to see which approach is safer and helps recovery after specific pelvic, hip, knee, and ankle fractures treated with surgery.
This trial compares early full weight-bearing with partial weight-bearing after surgery for unstable ankle fractures. It uses special insoles to monitor your weight-bearing, which may help you recover faster.
This trial compares two rehab plans after ankle fracture surgery: putting weight on the ankle right away versus waiting. It aims to see which approach is safer and better for healing and recovery.
This study looks at how the heel bone heals after surgery and how well people can balance afterward. Researchers want to understand if certain measurements of bone healing affect your ability to stand and move steadily.
This trial studies whether it’s safe and helpful to start putting weight on the leg after surgery for a broken hip socket. It compares two different early walking (mobilisation) plans to see which leads to better recovery.
