Who can take part

  • You are older than 18 years
  • You are classified as ASAI-III (a mid-level health risk status used by the study)
  • Your surgery is on the arm/hand/forearm below the elbow
  • Your procedure is expected to use a tourniquet for more than 45 minutes
  • You want regional anesthesia (numbing blocks in the arm) as your main anesthesia

Both methods use an ultrasound to guide the numbing medicine, but one also uses a small device (nerve stimulator) to help find the right spot.
