This trial studies whether an anti-inflammatory medicine (ibuprofen) changes prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test results to help decide on next diagnostic steps like MRI or biopsy. It may help people with an elevated PSA understand whether follow-up testing is more or less likely to be needed.

Who can take part

  • Be a man age 18 to 80 with a PSA blood test result above 3 (ng/mL)
  • Have had a normal prostate rectal exam within the last 2 years
  • Have no symptoms or recent test results suggesting a urinary infection (like burning or smelly urine)
  • You cannot have an allergy to ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
  • You must not have certain bleeding problems, serious kidney disease (eGFR under 30), or major heart disease/poorly controlled high blood pressure
  • You cannot currently be on certain meds (like blood thinners/dual antiplatelets, steroids/anti-inflammatory drugs, or finasteride/dutasteride unless used for 6+ months) and must not have had prostate MRI/biopsy in the past year
