Who can take part
- You (or your child) have a diagnosis of hyperekplexia based on specific exam and startle symptoms
- You are older than 2 years
- A parent/legal guardian (for a child) or the adult patient agrees to take part
- Your stiffness/startle is not caused by another known condition (such as injury or autoimmune disease)
- There isn’t another reason for developmental delays (for example, another major neurologic problem or serious head injury)
- You are not pregnant and not breastfeeding
