Check how well a blood pressure cuff reads in critically ill patients

This study tests whether a noninvasive blood pressure (NIBP) cuff gives accurate readings in people being cared for in intensive care or the operating room. It will compare the cuff’s numbers to blood pressure measured through an arterial line in different patient groups.

Who can take part

  • You’re being admitted to the NICU, PICU, ICU, or the operating room (OR)
  • You are 18 or older, or you’re the parent/legal guardian of a minor who can consent
  • Doctors need a blood pressure cuff (NIBP) as part of your care
  • You may need a specific type of blood-pressure line: radial for some groups, radial or umbilical for others
  • It must be possible for clinicians to correctly place the study device on your body
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you’re not currently in another study that could affect results
